Malta can be regarded as an extreme environment, where limited resources have to be maximized, while new and alternative energy sources have to be put into use in order to preserve the environment while reducing long-term infrastructural stresses. In addressing these issues, Why Not submitted nine projects revolving around this theme, and in demonstration of, the efficacy of renewable energy resources (solar, wind and geothermal energy, as well as sea water) and the use of recyclable material by presenting micro-level working schematics of such possibilities.

The projects were presented using progressive educational methods, i.e. hands-on projects and expeditionary learning. All the workshops took place at the Why Not? Creativity Vortex.
